Normal shoulder function is essential for many sports but also our daily functional tasks. So when we get an impairment it can drastically affect our quality of life. Its is still one of the most complex regions of the body that I treat in clinic as it composed of four joints, so any abnormalities in any of the joint regions can start to cause problems. The biggest area that my patients tend to complain of, is pain in the glenohumeral joint which is very similar to the hip in that it is a … [Read more...]

Functional Soft Tissue Tranformation (FSST)

August 8, 2023 By Mario Ciccone Leave a Comment

So I have been busy geeking out and taking some CPD courses over the last month and I am delighted to add FSST to my list of soft tissue techniques that I incorporate into my clinic. This technique differs from others manual soft tissue courses that I have taken by using a comprehensive movement testing and treating process that centers on the individuality of each client. FSTT takes a different approach from traditional structure based protocols. It is individually context dependent. … [Read more...]

So as summer has arrived and we think about picking up that tennis racket or golf clubs for the first time since last summer then the prevalence of shoulder pain occurring starts the increase. One of the most common causes of shoulder pain with these types of sports is shoulder impingement which is a loose term to describe structures that have become compromised during overhead sports and activities. Some of these tissues are tendons which as a group are called your rotator cuff muscles … [Read more...]

Pain in the back on the thigh.

July 11, 2023 By Mario Ciccone Leave a Comment

One of the causes of pain in the back of the thigh are hamstring strains. Acute, moderate/severe strains are common amongst runners especially sprinters and footballers while they are putting in shorts sprint bursts with a change of direction. They make up about 12% of injuries with football. We have two hamstrings on the outside and two on the inside and they are very active as the leg is swinging through during the gait cycle to help decelerate the foot as its just about to make contact … [Read more...]

Tension Headaches

March 8, 2023 By Mario Ciccone Leave a Comment

TENSION HEADACHES PAIN PATTERN Since the pandemic I have a seen an big rise in clients presenting with headaches that start at the back of your head and can migrate to an area which patients describe as behind the eye. They tend to be worse when screen time and sedentary sitting increase and that was a very common trait that was occurring. No need for the 15 min walk to and from the station or to pop out for a lunch break. It all accumulated to spending more time at the desk. Our tissues will … [Read more...]

Golf Performance

We strive to educate golf professionals and the playing public on the importance of the body and how it relates to the golf swing. We believe that golfers will benefit the most from a healthy and efficient body. Though there are an array of swing styles that we see we strongly believe there is one efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do.

Our Philosophy

We provide a multi-disciplinary approach to your musculoskeletal and sports injury dysfunction. At the heart of our philosophy is a desire to better understand human body movement: how the body was made to function, and how it actually functions. We evaluate a person’s natural movement patterns to discover the source of an injury as opposed to treating symptoms. Our goal is to encourage clients to take responsibility for their life and well being.
