So I have been busy geeking out and taking some CPD courses over the last month and I am delighted to add FSST to my list of soft tissue techniques that I incorporate into my clinic.
This technique differs from others manual soft tissue courses that I have taken by using a comprehensive movement testing and treating process that centers on the individuality of each client.
FSTT takes a different approach from traditional structure based protocols. It is individually context dependent. Structure is respected, yet individual function is the driver of the process.
The intention of the FSTT is to identify and improve dysfunction and create better efficiency in movement/function.
The techniques within FSTT are simply mechanical loads that are applied to the tissues to create positive adaptation in movement/function. This method helps me identify abnormal tensions in the body, select appropriate loading for testing and treating, create a plan to improve energy efficient movement.
Pain is an important signal from the therapeutic point of view which informs us about the threat to our body, allowing us to protect its integrity. By masking pain with the pain killers and anti inflammatories our body will continue with the potential harmful movements and the resultant joint and movement compensations, increases the risk of injury to the related joint. FSST works on the surrounding tissues such as the fascia to prevent the injury and normalize the muscular functional, alleviating the painful symptom and preventing its return.
If you would like more information in this type of technique or on how I can help you then please reach out.
Thanks
Mario
