Osteopathy is an established healthcare profession recognised by the British Medical Association. Osteopathy does not use surgery or medication to improve a painful condition. It is widely acknowledged that the musculoskeletal system is an integral part to the structure and function of our body and that any alterations within it can influence our overall health.
Patients treated by Osteopaths can expect:
- Fast pain relief
- Improved wellbeing
- Relief from inflammation and swelling
- Increase in joint mobility
- Reduction in muscular tension
- Exercise prescription
Osteopaths try to understand the cause of your pain instead of just treating the site of the pain itself. Osteopaths have a highly developed sense of touch to identify areas of tissue dysfunction and imbalance. They also recognise that the body is a complex structure influenced by a wide range of environmental factors. These factors can directly/indirectly place a huge stress on our human framework. To regain optimal function, our approach utilises a variety of techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint articulation and manipulation, as well as addressing any contributing factors to stimulate the healing process. Treatment will always encourage the bodies inherent ability to always find health as it starts to balance itself out, thereby reducing your symptoms so you can remain in good health.
Code of conduct
In the UK, Osteopathy is regulated by The Osteopathic Act (1993). This resulted in the formation of The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), which ensures that the patient’s practitioner has fulfilled the highest standards of clinical competence, adhering to the professions strict code of conduct.
