Hey everyone I hope you and your families are all well during this very testing period for us all.
I have some good news! We are remaining open with all treatments being conducted online over a zoom video.
We really do feel this is the best decision for your own and my families safety for at least the next 3 weeks.
At a time where we are being forced to move less, it’s never been more important to staying active, move well and breathe well. Breathing Moving Healing’ couldn’t be more prevalent at the moment
For some of you though, unfortunately your pain does not “just go away” during this period and with everything going on I still have a duty to help as many of you as I can, so that live with less pain and get back to doing the things that you love to do.
I have been working hard behind the scenes these last few days to transitioning all my systems so I can deliver online treatment sessions without causing any stress or complications for you all.
You will get an e mail with a document attached prior to our online session, that talks you through how we will go about this before our, so I do hope it will take away any fear of doing our sessions online. I really have tried to keep things a stress free for you all!
Many of you may not know that I do weekly online consultations to clients that don’t live in our local community, so have been delivering online consultations for the last couple of years and really enjoy doing them.
The main thing for going online is that we can still continue your treatment plans. I will still be going through my step by step system with you and once we have done and movement analysis I will coach you through what we need to go through during that session. This all comes under my key performance indicators (KPIs)
1: Improve full range joint motion where it is lacking
2: Make sure that improved range of motion in pain free
3: Progress you through your graded exposure to loading the joints and tissues at a threshold that is challenging and not painful
4: Re-Test then either Regress, consolidate or Progress the exercises based on those our movement analysis again.
5: Set the homework for you to work on
6: Next session continue your step by step plan and progress you on your graded exposure road map. The road map is always based your goals set out a session 1
As there is a lot of movements that we work on during our sessions, 60% of that system does not involve our hands which is why I am still really confident that we can continue to provide you with massive value with online consultations from the comfort of your home. I will be replacing any hands on work with what I call active joint mobilisations or instruct you to use foam rollers if you a have one,so that you can work on a particular group of muscles.
I realise that many patients expect hands-on treatment because that’s what they ‘expect’ or are ‘used to’ BUT, as our past and current patients know. YES the hands on work can have a very positive initial affect but the VITAL thing that truly allows you to get rid of their pain and to keep it away is the rehab exercises that they do in between appointments to continue to progress.
On a day to day basis even if I am face to face with a client, I am visually figuring out where the patient’s pain is coming from, so nothing really changes with doing this online. We will still be creating and working on a progressive bespoke treatment plan and coaching you through your specific exercises to help us ease your pain and get you back doing the things that you love to do.
Of course we understand that some people may be skeptical about online appointments, whether it’s a tech thing, or they may have the same opinion as above that they “need hands on”. I do get it!
The worst thing that could happen from all of this is backtracking from the progress we have made and then the pain coming back (and even getting worse) which is why it’s HIGHLY important that you do not cancel your appointments.
We don’t know how long the current situation is going to last for, it could be weeks, or even months. Now is more important than ever to look after our physical and mental wellbeing and I am 100% confident that using our online appointment systems, I will get as many people as possible in much better place to function with less pain!
Over the coming weeks we are adding useful tips and advice on our Instagram and Facebook page which you can join here. If you have an appointment next week I will be in touch so we can discuss any of the above points
Stay safe, stay active and stay healthy!
Warm regards
Mario Ciccone B.Ost, FAFS
